Traffic was standing still on parts of the multi-lane E-18 highway west of Oslo Friday afternoon, after four cars were involved in a chain collision near Strand.
The crash occurred in the westbound lanes heading out of the city towards Sandvika. Emergency vehicles rushed to the scene, reported the website for local newspaper Budstikka, but the collision was adding to the heavy traffic common on a Friday heading into a summer weekend.
One of the cars spun 90 degrees around, while a pregnant woman was among those taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Five others were sent to a local emergency clinic.
The cause of the crash was unclear.
