Police in Tromsø have arrested a man and charged him with the murder of another man found dead in his home on Tuesday. On Thursday they weren’t ruling out that other arrests may be made as well.
The victim, 48-year-old Hermod Magne Stensund, was found shot in the publicly owned housing complex where he lived on the island of Kvaløya. Eight people live in the complex, known for attracting “a lot of traffic and noise,” according to newspaper Aftenposten. Neighbours reported that they had heard death threats directed at the victim.
Police said the victim, who had a police record himself, was killed sometime between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning. National crime investigators have been sent from Oslo to assist Tromsø police in the murder investigation. The man in custody is suspected of “having carried out the murder or contributing to it,” Einar Sparboe Lysnes, acting police chief for the Troms Police District, told state broadcaster NRK. “We cannot rule out that there will be more arrests.”
