In addition to battling it out in the league championships, Norway’s two top football clubs will be facing off in the country’s annual Cup Final on November 23. Odd, based in the Telemark city of Skien, beat Sarpsborg 08 Thursday night in a match that qualified it to meet Molde in the final.
Odd beat Sarpsborg by a score of 5-2 in the second of two semi-finals this week. In the first, Molde beat Stabæk by a score of 1-0, with Molde thus set for its second Cup Final in a row after winning last year.
The Molde-Odd match is already sold out, just like the semi-finals were, but football officials were making around 2,000 extra tickets available by lottery. The Cup Final, played at Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo, is an annual football tradition in Norway, usually attended by the monarch for some royal flair.
