A man in his 50s who was shot while eating lunch at his place of work on Tuesday died on Wednesday from the wounds he suffered, police announced. Another man, also in his 50s, was in police custody, charged with murder.

The mid-day incident shocked colleagues who witnessed the shooting at an industrial complex in Oslo’s Oppsal district. The victim was rushed to Oslo University Hospital Ullevål, where his condition had been listed as critical.

Police arrested the alleged assailant shortly after the lunchtime shooting and he was due for a custody hearing on Wednesday. State broadcaster NRK reported that the suspect has a police record and has been involved in drug-related crimes, adding that police don’t think his victim was chosen at random.
