19-year-old denies terror plans

A 19-year-old Norwegian woman who’s being sought internationally by Norway’s police intelligence unit PST denies she has any plans to become a suicide bomber, as PST fears. She reportedly married recently and left Norway just before Christmas.

PST reportedly believes she has joined the ranks of young Norwegian Muslims who have become radicalized and headed off for holy war. Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported that she’s currently in Syria, but TV2 tracked her down and she claims she’s in Turkey on holiday with her new spouse.

Asked whether she had any plans to carry out a suicide bombing, she responded “Are you crazy? I’m Muslim. Islam doesn’t allow that. I’m in Turkey with my husband and will study Arabic.” NRK reported that she was born and reared in Oslo with parents from Morocco who have been in Norway for more than 20 years.

PST reportedly doesn’t believe that, with Swedish media reporting that PST has put out an “orange” warrant for her arrest via Interpol, based on “concrete information” that raises special suspicions of an imminent terrorist act. Neither PST, Interpol nor Sweden’s security police would comment.
