The southern Norwegian coastal town of Mandal was jarred Wednesday by a fatal shooting around mid-day. Police arrested a 19-year-old man with a police record whom them say linked himself to the crime.
Police reported that they first received reports from witnesses who heard shots outside a house at Ime in Mandal. A car was also reported seen driving slowly away from the house shortly thereafter.
Police stopped the car at Møll in Holum, around 10 kilometers from the scene of the shooting. They otherwise were reluctant to release details, even at an early-afternoon press conference, and asked for help from any other witnesses.
The neighbourhood was quickly cordoned off and armed police were on patrol. The person found at the house was declared dead at the scene.
