Police have arrested five men in Sør-Trøndelag and a sixth man in another police district on charges of both possession and distribution of material involving sexual assaults on children. Police found millions of photos at the home of one man in Fosen.
Local newspaper Adresseavisen reported that two of the men are in their 30s, one is around 50, another in his late 40s and the sixth man in his late 20s. It’s the largest seizure of assault photos ever made in Sør-Trøndelag.
It’s also the latest in a string of cases involving pedophiles who prey on small children. Some of the photographic material shows assaults on very young children including babies, not unlike a recent case that resulted in prison terms for several men and two women in Drammen.
Police said they were devoting major resources to the investigation and were getting help from state police crime unit Kripos. Police were asking the local court to keep the men in custody for at least four weeks while the investigation continued. The man from Fosen was arrested in April and already has sat in custody for eight weeks, to prevent him from destroying further evidence.
