The Norwegian women’s national football team was “terribly disappointed” on Tuesday after losing a match against England Monday evening that literally kicked them out of further play at the World Cup in Canada.
“I thought we were good, but you have to score goals,” said a disappointed Solveig Gulbrandsen when it was all over. She managed one, but none of her fellow teammates did the same, and the match ended in England’s favour by a score of 2-1.
The Norwegians needed to win in order to advance in World Cup action. England is considered one of the best teams in the world and Norway did create some good chances, but didn’t nail them.
“It’s just terrible, nothing more to say,” Gulbrandsen told state broadcaster NRK.
