An upcoming film version of Norwegian author Jo Nesbø’s crime novel Snømannen (The Snowman) will be filmed in Oslo. Film production company Universal confirmed the project on Wednesday, burying rumours that the movie would be filmed in Stockholm instead.
It will be the first film made in Norway that taps into a new incentive program, where filmmakers can apply to get 25 percent of their costs in Norway refunded by the state.
Politicians earmarked NOK 45 million for the incentive program in next year’s state budget, in the hopes potential filmmaking in Norway will also create jobs and promote Norway as a film location and destination abroad.
