Norwegians proved once again that they’re big fans of US rock star Bruce Springsteen. After already performing before tens of thousands of fans in Oslo earlier this summer, and in other Norwegian cities, he returned to the capital on Thursday and drew tens of thousands more.
All 37,000 tickets to Springsteen’s outdoor concert in the Frogner Park Thursday evening sold out in 30 minutes, and thousands more could mill around in the surrounding area and hear some of the music.
Both Springsteen and his longtime guitar player Little Steven have a special relationship with Norway, with the latter even starring in the Norwegian TV series Lilyhammer and spending a lot of time in Norway, also nurturing young musicians. Springsteen and Little Steven also performed in a memorial concert following the terrorist attacks in July 2011, with Springsteen also performing in Norway over the past 30-plus years.
He ran through hits like The River, Hungry Heart, Born in the USA and Born to Run as he delivered another marathon performance of around 30 numbers, just days after another huge concert in Trondheim. The crowd loved it. “The Boss” will clearly be welcomed back, again and again.
