Thieves prepared for summer season

Two men spotted on surveillance cameras broke into a branch of the optician retail chain Synsam during the night. Police reported they made off with a load of sunglasses, valued at as much as NOK 200,000 (USD 24,000).

The thieves managed to spring the sliding glass doors leading into the shop at Strømmen Center in Romerike, northeast of Oslo. Marte Linnerud, manager of the Synsam branch, told state broadcaster NRK that she didn’t have a full overview over what’s missing, but that the thieves seemed to snatch mostly expensive brands of sunglasses.

Surveillance video shows one of the men, wearing a hooded jacket, carrying a large bag shortly after 3am on Monday. An investigation was underway.
