Tom Cruise forced to postpone ‘Preikestolen’ stunt

US actor Tom Cruise has had to postpone taking part in a stunt planned atop Norway’s famed rocky plateau Preikestolen, after he broke his ankle while working on the latest Mission Impossible film.

Cruise was supposed to take part in another action scene for the film on Preikestolen from September 20-28. Local newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad reported that the film’s production company had received permission to make up to 50 helicopter landings per day on Preikestolen, which also was to have been closed during the eight-day period to all the tourists that hike up to it every day.

Now Cruise needs to let his ankle mend after injuring it while jumping between two buildings in London during another part of the film. The filming on Preikestolen must therefore be postponed by at least two months.

“The scenes from Preikestolen will still be part of the film, there are no changes,” Audun Rake of the Preikestolen Foundation told Stavanger Aftenblad.  He said it was too early to say when they’ll now take place.
