A 20-year-old Russian who stabbed a woman in an Oslo grocery last month has been declared too mentally ill to stand trial, at least for now. His defense attorney said he’s been diagnosed as suffering from a form of psychosis.
“After a preliminary examination, the court-appointed psychiatrist believes he was in a state of psychosis at the time of the stabbing,” defense attorney Ola Lunde told Nettavisen.
The stabbing was initially investigated as a terrorist attack, after claims made by the Russian, who said all Christians should be killed. He now faces a full psychiatric examination after being ordered held in custody (now as a patient committed to a mental health facility) for at least four weeks on January 19.
