The latest in a series of demonstrations by groups opposing Turkey’s military offensive in Northern Syria were carried out during the weekend, this time without incidents. Similar demonstrations last weekend ended in rioting after pro-Turkish demonstrators challenged the Kurds.
Saturday marked the fourth weekend in a row that the organizations UngKurd Norge (Young Kurds in Norway) and the Kurdish Democratic Society demonstrated in Oslo. They gathered outside the central train station and marched up to the large plaza Youngstorget.
“It went very well,” Tore Solberg of the Oslo Police District told news bureau NTB. “There haven’t been any undesirable incidents reported to us.”
Demonstrations were also held in Bergen and Trondheim, leading to one person being expelled from Bergen’s central square Torgallmenningen.
