Solberg and Mæland thanked firefighters and many others who helped during the fire that destroyed two homes and forced the evacuation of hundreds of residents.

The fire began Thursday morning, with firefighters still dealing with flare-ups o Saturday. Most residents could move back to their homes, however, during the weekend.

The fire scorched a wide area of Sotra in Øygården, an island community on the West Coast where it usually rains a lot but lately had a spell of warm and dry weather.
