Three restaurants in Oslo and one in Bergen were awarded Michelin stars for the first time, while Maaemo in Oslo hung on to all of its three. After the past two “hard years” of Corona shutdowns, it marked a sense of gratification for all involved.
“We’ve learned we can never take anything for granted,” said Christoper Haatuft of the Lysverket restaurant in Bergen, which was among those winning its first star. Others winning new stars included the restaurants Schlägergården, Hot Shop and Hyde in Oslo.
Only 11 new stars were handed out in all of Scandinavia. Michelin officials praised Nordic chefs for their “bravery” and called them “gastronomic trendsetters.” Many were cited for their sustainability efforts and seasonal menus that stress local ingredients.
