Military troops attached to Norway’s Home Guard launched a series of exercises in the Oslo area this week. The goal is to ensure defense capability and secure critical infrastructure in a crisis situation.
Around 3,000 soldiers, military vehicles and other equipment will be visible through Friday in and around Oslo. Defense officials warn that the exercises may affect traffic patterns or cause delays in some areas both during the day and at night.
“This is a valuable exercise for Oslo and to strengthen cooperation with local officials,” said Ann Kristian Brunborg, chief of preparedness for the City and County of Oslo. Exercises will also take place in neighbouring Bærum, Ullensaker and Lillestrøm.
