Trains halted late Sunday night

BaneNor, the state agency in charge of the Norwegian railroad, announced a five-hour shutdown of trains all over the country during the weekend. The shutdown is needed in order to carry out necessary maintenance.

Trains were to grind to a halt at 2am Sunday, with service due to resume from 7am, according to BaneNor. The maintenance work needed is on the communications system between the railroad’s traffic management center and trains.

All lines were to be shut down during the maintenance period. Train operator Vy offerd bus service in lieu of train service and otherwise refer passengers to Ruter’s bus service in the Oslo area.
