Prosecutors in Oslo have filed even more new charges against Marius Borg Høiby after another violent incident just before his trial began last month on 38 other criminal charges. Høiby, the 29-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, isn’t contesting the new charges of reckless and wanton behaviour and violating a restraining order once again.
Newspaper Aftenposten reported Tuesday morning that the new charges involve one of Høiby’s earlier partners who’s already one of his alleged victims in the major trial still unfolding in the Oslo County Court. Just before the trial began, Høiby showed up at the home of the woman, allegedly yelled at her, became violent and threatened to injure himself with a knife if she called the police.
“It was a quite an incident that night, dramatic and one that we believe he must also be held responsible for in court,” Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbø told reporters. Judge Jon Sverdrup Efjestad agreed that the new charges will be handled in the trial already underway.
Høiby’s trial entered a new phase last week, when the women Høiby is accused of abusing and allegedly raping testified against him in all intimate detail. His filming of sexual acts allegedly when they were asleep or under the influence of drugs and alcohol is among charges against him. Høiby also faces various narcotics charges and is expected to remain in custody at least through the end of the trial if not beyond.
