Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre was among those condemning Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine during the night. Støre claimed they showed “a total absence of any interest in peace.”
The attacks involved use of so-called “super weapons” that included around 600 drones and missiles including some that were hypersonic. At least five people were killed and 83 injured during the nighttime attack on Kyiv and its surrounding area.
“These are attacks of a size and character we haven’t seen earlier, and they’ve been targeted at civilians and civilian infrastructure,” Støre told news bureau NTB. Instead of trying to find a pathway to peace, he added, the Russians “choose to esalate.” Several other European leaders were also condemning the nighttime attacks on Sunday.
Others have claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin is getting desperate as the “special military operation” he boasted would be over quickly turned into full-scale invasion and a war that’s dragging on in its fifth year. Ukraine continues to fight back, with support from European allies including Norway.
