Marius Borg Høiby, the 29-year-old son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has now been formally indicted on at least two new charges that involve transport of narcotics and violating a restraining order against him. His trial on 32 other criminal counts is due to begin early next month.
His defense attorney Ellen Holager Andenæs attempted to downplay the new charges, calling them “old” since Høiby’s transport of 3.5 kilos of marijuana from Lørenskog to “a person in Tønsberg” took place in 2020. She told state broadcaster NRK that Høiby would be pleading guilty to the drug transport and claimed it was a “one-time” offense that “he hasn’t earned a krone on.”
Høiby’s other new violations of the law also include new traffic violations for speeding last year, and for violating restraining orders against a former girlfriend. She has reportedly requested that the restraining order be lifted.
