Norway’s state directorate in charge of digitalization (Digdir) found itself under another cyber attack during the night and well into Monday. Digital defense systems were said to be stable, however, and able to limit consequences of what amounted to data overload.
The attack continued into the afternoon, “but we have taken steps that have brought systems back up and available again,” Digdir director Frode Danielsen told state broadcaster NRK. Services affected included ID-porten and Altinn, often used for access to the tax authority and other state services.
It was the third attack in recent weeks and Danielsen warned that users could still experience instability. There was no comment on who or what was behind the latest attack.
