Police apprehended four boys, aged 10-14, for setting fire to the Rosenhoff day care center Wednesday evening. Since all the boys are underaged, none can be charged under Norwegian law.
A witness reported seeing some boys running away from the day care center and matches were found at the scene. Police told newspaper Aftenposten that police patrols in the area quickly caught the boys, who admitted to setting the fire.
Police have been in contact with the boys’ parents and reported the incident to Norway’s child welfare service Barnevernet, but beyond that the boys can’t be brought before a court. All of them live in the day care center’s neighbourhood.
