Police in Oslo have launched investigations after two cars, both BMWs, were found burning outside a residential building in the Norwegian capital’s Mortensrud district one night last week.
The cars fires come after a rash of such incidents have plagued cities in Sweden, especially Malmö, and elsewhere in Europe. Police, who confirmed to newspaper Dagsavisen that the fires were being investigated as arson cases, hope the trend isn’t moving into Norway as well.
So do residents of Mortensrud, who found the fires frightening, especially after witnesses reported seeing two people run from the area on Blakkens Vei just before midnight last Tuesday.
“This is a relatively quite area, but there have been several revenge actions between criminal gangs (at a local shopping center) and of course we get worried when something like this happens in our neighbourhood,” one local resident, Jeanett Pettersen, told Dagsavisen.
