Millions worth of salmon stolen

Police at Oslo’s main airport at Gardermoen are investigating the theft of an entire trailer-load of salmon during the weekend. The trailer containing fresh salmon valued at more than NOK 1 million disappeared from a refrigerated warehouse at Gardermoen Saturday night.

The fully loaded trailer from Nordland County disappeared from salmon producer Marine Harvest’s facility at Gardermoen, reported local newspaper Romerikes Blad. The fish was due to be transported from Gardermoen Sunday morning.

“The thieves were professional,” Per Johansen of the firm Per Johansen Transport that owned the trailer told Romerikes Blad. “We have a GPS tracer on the trailer, but it was disconnected. Its last registration here was at 11:54pm on Saturday. At that point, the trailer had been parked since 4pm.”

Police are calling for tips from anyone in the area Saturday night.
