Norway’s postal service has issued two new stamps to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland, the man behind all the statues in Oslo’s Vigeland Park at Frogner.
Two of Vigeland’s most iconic sculptures were chosen for the stamps, with the angry little boy called Sinnataggen adorning a stamp for postage within Europe, and Kysset (The Kiss) adorning one for international postage.
It’s by no means the first time Vigeland has been honoured with stamps. News bureau NTB reported that his art has adorned stamps on seven earlier occasions.
Now Posten Norge is joining the national celebration of Vigeland, which is highlighted by a new exhibition at the Vigeland Museum that opened last week and runs through the summer.
