A 19-year-old Russian citizen convicted of carrying a home-made bomb into Oslo’s Grønland district two years ago has been deported. TV2 reported that a flight took off from OSL Gardermoen during the weekend with the former asylum seeker on board.
The teenager created quite a stir when police cordoned off a large area and arrested him for possession of an explosive device. He’d come to Oslo from Northern Norway after being part of the refugee influx of 2015. He later was convicted after the bomb incident and the justice ministry sought his deportation on the grounds he posed a threat to fundamental national interests.
The Oslo County Court ruled that a deportation was valid over the objections of the teenager’s defense attorney. The court determined he had been further radicalized and also posed a threat to national security.
