Police in Oslo suspect a group of youngsters, all under the age of 15, are behind an explosive fire at a high school in the Norwegian capital’s Lambertseter district earlier this week. The school’s gymnasium was destroyed in the blaze, which broke out after school hours.
A police investigation “has strengthened the hypothesis that the fire was set,” Lene Moen, acting leader of the investigation, told newspaper Aftenposten. The probe has involved questioning of witnesses, crime technicians’ examinations, electronic tracks and tips from the public.
No one was injured in the blaze but it sent out so much smoke that neighbours were told to remain indoors with windows shut. Since all the suspects are under the age for criminal liability, they can’t be prosecuted in court and will likely only be questioned by police and followed up in other ways.
