International paint and coatings firm Jotun plans to hire more than 1,600 new workers this year, most of them outside the company’s home base in Norway. The hiring will set a new record, reports newspaper Dagens Næringsliv (DN).
Global growth means that the Jotun concern will advertise more than 900 new jobs during 2011, and that recruiting needs for other positions will be at least as high, according to DN. The Sandefjord-based company currently has around 7,800 employees worldwide.
Most of the hiring at Jotun is expected to take place in Asia, especially India, but also in the Middle East and North Africa. Around 84 percent of Jotun’s revenues are generated outside Norway, according to communications director Fredrik Tangeraas.
