‘Scandinavian Star’ investigation ‘worthless’

Foundations formed by arson experts and survivors and families of those killed in the Scandinavian Star ferry fire 26 years ago refuse, as expected, to accept the conclusions of the investigation that was reopened by the Oslo police in 2014. It determined that the case would be dropped once again, for lack of evidence.

Sigurd Klomsæt, an attorney for the foundation of experts who claim the fire was set by crew members as part of an insurance scam, called the Oslo police’s new report “completely worthless.” He vowed an ongoing battle for justice on behalf of the 159 people killed in the fire and their families.

“We’re not giving up,” Klomsæt claimed at a press conference earlier this week. News bureau NTB reported that the foundation now aims to keep up pressure on members of the Norwegian Parliament who commissioned their own investigation that’s due to release its report on the fire next June.
