Three women were attacked within a period of just 45 minutes Wednesday evening, in separate incidents on Oslo’s east side. Police later arrested a man in an apartment in the capital’s Veitvet neighbourhood, and charged him with two attemped rapes and one case of sexual assault.
Veitvet isn’t far from the scenes of the assaults at the Økern and Linderud metro stations and on Veitvetveien. “The man in his 20s was arrested without any drama at his residence,” Ann-Kristin Grosberghaugen of the Oslo Police District told state broadcaster NRK.
Grosberghaugen said one of his victims is just 15 years old. The other two women are aged 18 and 22. All are believed to have been attacked at random.
Police had quickly issued a description of the man and searched through the night for a man around 25 years old and with details of his clothing obtained from all three women. “Based on the investigation we identified a person and went to his address,” police operations leader Gjerund Stokkli told NRK. “He was arrested on suspicion of being behind all three assaults.”
