Police responded in force early Monday afternoon when calls came in about a stabbing in the Ammerud neighbourhood on Oslo’s east side. They quickly arrested a man in his 30s, after three people were found seriously wounded.
“I’ve never seen so many police and ambulances at the same time in the same place,” one witness told state broadcaster NRK. “I counted 25 police cars, eight ambulances and three fire trucks. This sort of thing isn’t common in Ammerud, it’s a very quiet area. People are crying.”
A police spokesperson said the stabbing occurred inside an apartement on Ammerudveien. The victims include two men and a woman. Two were rushed to hospital, one listed in serious condition and the other in critical condition. The third victim suffered more minor wounds and was taken to Oslo’s emergency clinic Legevakten.
Police wouldn’t reveal a motive for the attack or the relations among the four people involved. One of the victims was found outside the residential building and the two others inside. The knife used is also believed to have been recovered outdoors.
