The written portion of the Norwegian language exam that immigrants much pass in order to secure citizenship was cancelled this week because of technical problems. The cancellation affects 14,000 immigrants who’d been studying hard.
“There have been some log-in problems in many parts of the country,” Gørild Steen, rector of the Skullerud Adult Education program told new bureau NTB. The exam is administered online and everyone is supposed to take it at the same time.
The state directorate Kompetanse Norge is responsible for carrying out the exam, while the private firm Enovate serves as technical supplier to the state. Steen said that problems seem to come up every year.
“We are extremely critical of the work done, because the supplier delivers only a small degree of what the participants deserve,” Steen said. The exam was expected to be rescheduled.
