Two people wearing helmets drove a motorcycle up to the entrance of a jewelry store in the heart of Oslo late Monday morning, stormed in and held it up at gunpoint. Police had two suspects in custody within an hour.
“They fired shots inside the store,” operations leader for the Oslo Police, Rune Hekkelstrand, told state broadcaster NRK. No one was hurt during the heist, but employees and customers were shaken by the midday robbery at the Thune store on Stortingsgata, just across the street from the public area outside the Parliament.
The two robbers took off on the motorcycle but were apprehended shortly thereafter along the Aker River in Oslo’s Grünerløkka district. The contents of their heist was unclear as police continued to question witnesses.
